JSAW’s Response to Covid-19

Published by Ann Kelly on

During these difficult times of social distancing, we have never been more committed to carrying out our mission. JSAW is continually working to transform action sports culture by turning riders into disciples. It has been a very fast paced few weeks of continual changes and constant updates from both national and local governments. In light of all the changes, we wanted to share with you the measures we are taking to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the opportunities we are taking advantage of to continue our programs and support riders.

Bible Study: Thursday March 26th marked our first ever video bible study. We are working with Zoom, a video conferencing app, to continue our 2 month study of Ephesians. Now more than ever, riders need a community of believes to meet with every week which is why we knew we couldn’t cancel Bible study.

Mentoring/Outreach: The situation has opened up a great opportunity for intentional, one on one mentoring and discipling. While our skatepark is closed to the public temporarily, our program staff is able to arrange video meetings with riders to mentor them read the bible, and lift their spirits. Riders can also meet with staff at outdoor skateparks while complying with CDC and government guidelines.

Help Boardshop: Although the park and shop are closed, we are fulfilling online orders for curbside pick-up or free shipping. The support our shop is raising for our ministry is at an all-time high for the month of March. Having the park closed has opened a great opportunity for facility maintenance in the park. Sherwin Williams generously donated paint and supplies for us to paint the walls in the park last week with a second coat going up this week. We have also been reconstructing a few of the features in the park.

We are asking for your continued prayer and support for JSAW and all of the riders that we serve.
