This past week we had a skate camp in our park. We had five skaters come for the whole week, our numbers were a bit lower than we had hoped for, but we made the best of it and the kids had a blast! One of the campers even prayed on Friday during bible study that we would “do another camp this summer because it was the best week ever!” One day Ian (JSAW employee and camp coach) took the time to teach the kids some old school tricks, because he’s an old fool that’s so cool! (Yes, that was a Whoop! there it is a reference for all of you 80’s hip-hop lovers). Each day during lunch we did Bible study’s and our theme for the week was courage. We related how learning new skateboard tricks takes courage because when you learn something new you fall, a lot. During the week spoke about David and Goliath, Jesus praying in the garden of Gethsemane, Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego, Moses crossing the Red Sea with the Israelites and Abigail confronting David and his army! They guys loved talking about all of these stories and how courageous the people were in them. All of us at the ministry were so encouraged by the boys and their curiosity. All in all it was a great week for campers and coaches and we look forward to the next HELP skate camp!
