Last Friday was Minute to Kill It, our annual snowboard video contest! We had 10 riders submit 60 second clips of their riding footage. We premiered all the video’s at Help Boardshop and then riders and attendees voted on who would take home the $500 cash prize and and all kinds of goods from our sponsors: DC, Salomon, Oakley, DWD, ThirtyTwo, Airblaster, CG Habitats, Colab, Check the Feed and more. Everyone at the premiere was able to enjoy free meal from Chick-fil-a too!
We do this event as a way to promote the shop but more importantly to support our local riders. It is fun seeing guys work hard to put together an edit and get props from all their friends. It is a way to showcase their passion, creativity and style in snowboarding. We want to encourage riders and take notice of them, regardless of whether or not they have the best tricks. We had 40 people attend the premiere including friends, other riders and even parents. It was great to be able to interact with guys ‘off the hill’ too. One of the riders, Joey took home first prize $500 cash, afterward shared with one of our staff that he had recently lost his job. As I reflect on the night I am reminded that God is at work in ways we don’t even know about. Please be praying for all the riders we serve!
