Wake Season Recap

This summer was one for the books at JSAW! From June through August, we had the incredible opportunity to spend over 200 hours on the boat, pouring into the lives of riders, building connections, and making unforgettable memories. It was a season filled with fun, faith, and, of course, a lot of wakeboarding!

At three different weekly Bible study locations around the Twin Cities, we were blessed to see 45 riders participate. These sessions were more than just time on the water – they were moments of growth, where riders were encouraged to connect with each other, dive deeper into their faith, and experience the beauty of God's creation in a whole new way.

Our wake camps saw an incredible turnout, with 83 riders participating throughout the summer. Each day was packed with challenges and achievements, as kids pushed their skills to new heights, whether they were beginners or experienced riders. More than just learning tricks they also learned how to face challenges, try new things, and build community.

This summer wasn’t just about riding. It was about creating a space where kids could feel accepted, loved, and empowered. Our time on the boat allowed us to have real conversations, provide mentorship, and encourage each rider in their personal and spiritual growth. It was amazing to see how these young people bonded and encouraged one another throughout the summer.

One of the most powerful moments this summer came during a Bible study when one rider shared his story. He mentioned that no one in his family believed in God. He wanted to believe but he had some questions first. He couldn’t reconcile some of the things he had heard about Christianity at home and school with what he saw and heard at JSAW. This honest vulnerability opened up an incredible conversation about fundamental theology, leading to a meaningful discussion with the entire group. It was one of those moments where you could feel hearts and minds opening up, as kids explored their faith in a way that felt personal and real.

We are beyond grateful for everyone who made this summer possible – from our incredible donors, volunteers, to the families who trusted us with their kids, and most importantly, to the young riders who gave it their all and made this season unforgettable.
